So the initial time you have to manually boot to the Mavericks partition and then select the start up disk, and even here you'll will only see one disk!! The annoying part is it won't boot into the Mavericks partition after the clone, it tries to boot to the other drive which ends up giving you the folder with '?'. I wonder if anyone of you have faced this issue and know a work around.
So there must be some 'Yosemite Recovery' partition or 'boot partition' left. I know that its something new Apple has now done since I now get a black screen in boot options rather then the grey/white Mavericks screen, even after I've completely wiped the drive. One which is our Mavericks and the 2nd one is not even bootable, but only appears after Mavericks is installed. Once I've loaded my image, in boot options I will still see two Macintosh HD partitions. This shouldn't matter since we are copying our own image over, but there's a problem that persist with Yosemite having a hidden partition that cannot be removed.Įven tho in disk utility you can't see it, through Terminal you can, and even if you wipe it there it won't go away once you reinstall the OS. We have not yet deployed Yosemite in our environment, However all new Macs we now purchase comes with Yosemite. We have a ready made image for Mavericks that we deploy on all new Macs so it requires minimal customization.
